In my school in Cyprus, it was fairly small. I was friends with all of my teachers. Yes, they would drill us, some in their different ways, bringing parts of their own humour into it (funny how a lot of it was related to extreme (ish) physical exertion).
That suited me well. I find it awkward being around people i don't know, or am not on friendly terms with of some sort or other, especcially with teaching, your going to see a rather quiet and, possibly clumsy and shy me unless i know them.
