Default question

Hi Bamboo... and all the rest...
As some of you may know, from scooting round the other forums, my kids and I do Wing Chun (Kung Fu) - been a while since i posted tho!
Now, one of the reasons we do this stems from a desire to do a "softer" style of art, originally due to my son's very flexible nature. His core body conditioning has improved no end, and he enjoys hitting his dad lots! Anyway, whats this to do with Aikido?
He has come home from school with an invite to join an Aikido class run by one of the tutors.
I've read up a little on Aikido, and it would seem to be similar in nature (note nature, not style or content) to our style of Wing Chun... a softer style, consentrating on redirection of energy, rather than use of brute force... is this vaguely so? I ask because He was specifically told not to do arts like Judo or large expressive arts like TKD by a physio. I have agreed he can do the course, but will take advise too...
