| Online Friends? What really made me come back, was last night I was listening to the radio, talk radio. The subject was if you can really make friends on the internet. It started me thinking, "that ridiculous" then I went further in my thinking and thought of the lot of you. I realized, I've made many friends here. Then I quickly changed my view. Yes you can make friends on the internet. Then (and I'm gettin sappy here y'all) I also realized I missed you guys.
Now I pose the question to y'all do you think you can make real friends using the internet?

| If you only have contact over the internet and never meet in real life, then I don't think you can become real friends. If you meet in real life, then it's possible. | | | | Senior Member Black Belt 5th Dan Join Date: Dec 1969 Posts: 2,318

| I believe you can make friends over the net. I do feel like lot of you as my friends. But i do feel that you will never be as close if you never meet in real life. | | | | Super Moderator Black Belt 5th Dan Join Date: Dec 1969 Posts: 4,295

Many Christians have never met Jesus, but they also love him more than their parents. Yes I know this is faith, but It is my belief that you can have a friend, a good friend that you've never met face to face. I mean when bamboo and I first met, we hugged like we were family. It was not awkward, wierd, there was just friendship.

| Hmm,
I consider you e-friends but not real freinds because we have never met. If we met Im sure we would be freinds as long as you could look past me picking my nose constantly and wiping it on my lapel, the body odour, pinching womens bottoms and the continous fondling of my private parts in public.
Of course thats not true of me but Im trying to illustrate that an e-freind may reveal traits and behaviours you dislike in real life that are not apparent from behind a keyboard.
What I find interesting is a couple of years back when we had a few political/religeous/philosophical threads - everyone hated everyone, a few death threats went out and then we seemed to all agree to disagree and accept each others diferences with a certain maturity. This is the difference between fightauthority and the majority of other forums.

When they meet with their clan, guild or whatever for the first time. Most of the time they get along. Can I get an E hug.

| I think yes....but like Zefff said; E-friends. I'm sure that most of these internet meetings could result in a real friendship if given the chance to meet in person.
By the way.....welcome back Panta. We missed you too.
