| Bruised hands What is the best remedy for bruised hands? My fingers have been bent out of shape and they dont seem to be healing. Ive been told soaking in hot water and salt. Ive heard of it before but does it actually work or is there anything else?

| What happened exactly, zefff? Was it impact or torsion? Is there any swelling, pain, immobility and so forth? If it's that bad, you may want to see a doctor to make sure you haven't broken bones. If it turns out to be simple bruising, you may want to make a trip to your local chinatown and pick up some liniments - just ask the apothecary for the strongest they have on hand, then apply them to your hands (make sure they're dry and clean) every night before bed and wrap them up to keep them warm.

| Three knuckles on each hand feel bruised and sore from training BJJ day after day and not letting the little knocks heal so now they are big knocks that have halved my grip strength.
Theres no swelling, significant loss of range of motion or even redness etc. They just hurt. I cant even do pressups on my knuckles they are so bad now and collar chokes are difficult to work.
Ive been applying some ointment but they arent getting better and I can stop training now because I have major compettions coming up.

| So they went from little knocks to big knocks but there is no swelling?
First and foremost, take a few days off, period. If you continue to train with an injury, it's only going to get worse. Go to class and participate in things that don't require a lot of hand use like running, some warm ups, going through the motions slowly and delicately.
Going live is probably going to be the biggest thing that continues to hamper recovery, so avoid it for awhile.
Also, go to a pharmacy and ask the pharmacist, they are often very helpful. If it doesn't get better after a few days off, go see a doctor if you have insurance.
EDIT: Just read your comp. soon. Well, if you don't take the few days off now how do you think your hands are going to feel during the competition? Don't you think that is going to hinder your chances?

| So are your knuckles/hands feeling any better? Were you able to give them a little rest or get some liniments?
