| Most embarrassing MA moments I have many, jah knows a great many but here is my favourite at the moment.
It was about a year ago while I was checking out different dojos and gyms around my city looking for a new "home" to learn and practice. One such was a jiujitsu club located not far from my own home in the suburbs. So I called ahead, got my gear ready and off I went. When I arrived it turned out to be a an elementry school and we practiced in the gym. OK, no big deal, in I go. I go and suit up, put on my gi, cup and mouthpiece and go out to the mats.
We start by doing what the teacher called "active stretching" which means striking and kicking combinations in the air. Practing a front kick, jab to cross to roundhouse something felt "off" in my pants. Seconds later, during the front air kick par excellence, my cup flew out of my pants and nailed the instructor clean in the throat.
He never saw it coming and I never went back to that place.

| Hahahahaa! I tend to quickly forget mine so I'll have to think about this.
But a quick one that happened to someone else: I was at a new Arnis school and we were working Hubud drills when the instructor pulls out a load of live blades, he says "go ahead, pick what you like"... he chooses a particularly vicious looking hunting knife and gets back to his hubud.
Now Ive drilled with live knives and swords before but VERY CAREFULLY so I was a bit shocked at the cavalier attitude of the instructor...but he was a legit old schooler (in his 50's and a renowned master) so I thought he just had the Philipino way in him. I refused to work with the blades as I'd only just started at this club and didnt trust my partners judgement and while the instructor continued I asked him if he was sure about the whole thing. He was actually a really nice and laid back guy and just as he looked across to me and replied "yeah its cool, we do this all the time here"...his palm was slit open from little finger to thumb! Blood squirted into the air and his face went a little red.
He stopped the bleeding, bandaged up and continued the class though!!!

| Sounds a bit like the time my gi pants' straps came undone and the whole works dropped down around my ankles in the middle of a karate grading, years and years and years ago. Oh, and I had no underwear on at the time.
Shortly after, I was accused of causing the sharp attrition rate of females from our group. But hey, I was nine years old! | | | | Super Moderator Black Belt 5th Dan Join Date: Dec 1969 Posts: 4,295

| I think I beat the hell out of all your stories.
Grappling with a partner, who is trying to lock a triangle on you and the only reason you tap was because he may have eaten too many beans
