I was having a conversation with a friend about this earlier today. If there's one problem with Web 2.0 it's that it makes everybody with a modem believe that their opinion is actually valid.

Reading the BBC's "Have Your Say" pages is a great example. I don't comment on them because I feel my knowledge of politics, economics, etc, is not up to the task. Yet hundreds of people who clearly know even less than me feel obliged to contribute paragraphs of utter, utter shite, just because they can.

I find I have to avoid huge swathes of the Internet just to keep my blood pressure within acceptable limits.
