| Which fighting Style? Hello,
Right now I am looking into all these styles (i hope i am in the right forum) and I am looking for a style that makes a good workout (trying to get muscle: strength, agility, stamina and of course six pack for the ladies : ) but anyways in this style i would like to do takedowns, joint, some kicks punchs but the main being takedowns, joints etc. and is good when I am up against an opponent bigger than me (such as taller person or heavier person) and can still defend myself to an extent (thats why i am interested in a fighting style that can give me strength, stamina, agility etc).
I was looking at BJJ but of course I dont really like to consider being on the floor 99.9% of the time but it does look effect. Looking at Kung fu but heard from a few that it would make a good second type fighting style and not a main. So, with my interests, what is the best one that describes what fighting style i am looking for? Thank you in advance sorry for the novel. | | | | Super Moderator Black Belt 5th Dan

| If you want takedowns look for Judo.

| find a good BJJ/Judo school. Nowadays there are alot of hybrid dojos. BJJ taught as to supplement a base art.

| Don't discount all jiujitsu schools simply because they are not bjj- lots of nonbrazilian based jiujitsu is training "alive" and involves good self defense applications, hard workout and vigorous takedown/ground games.

Check out multiple schools and go on the vibe you get from it. You can go to the best school, but you may not click with it. So do your research

| Have you ever considered "Commando Krav Mega" or "CKM" for short. I don't know how it compares to other fighting styles, but to me it seems very affective for real life situations and you get that amazing workout before every class.
I do know you will not spend more then 5 or 6 seconds on the ground. | | | | Administrator Orange Belt Join Date: Feb 2007 Posts: 183

| I heard some Krav Maga schools can be very effective and can give you all that you might be looking for. But I've also heard that truly good Krav Maga schools are hard to find. Any school owner can get an offical Krav Maga certification for like $2k. So you could have some lame ass Rex-Kwon-Do guy teaching you how to be lame.
Black Panta said it best. Go to schools, check them out, take a free lesson, and see what one fits you. Also, use the net to research local schools in your area. If you want to send us a link to get our opinion on the school, we'd be happy to look at it.
Also, check out this little tool I made for finding the best martial art for you. Choose the best martial art for you - Fightauthority.com - Find your path!
