| Ninjutsu or just Bujinkan?? Is there such thing as ninjutsu anymore?? I know in Bujinkan 3 of the schools are ninjutsu, so if someone says they train in ninjutsu is it really Bujinkan? Was Hatsumi the last person to learn the complete system of ninjutsu? | | | | Senior Member Black Belt 5th Dan Join Date: Jan 1970 Posts: 2,328

| There are three main schools usually associated with ninjutsu: Bujinkan, Genbukan, and Jinenkan. None of these really use the term ninjutsu anymore, since it only relates to a very specific part of their syllabus, which is rarely taught in the average dojo. Bujinkan now prefer to call their style "budo taijutsu", Genbukan name theirs "ninpo bugei" and Jinenkan, as far as I know, just call it plain old "Jinenkan".
I sometimes use the term "ninjutsu" to describe what I do, but only if I'm in the company of those uninvolved in MA, since it's more likely to be a term they know. I would perhaps question anybody who used the term with other MAists though.

| Speaking of Ninjutsu, a guy in my Japanese class was bragging about knowing it, so we invited him to come spar at our dojo. After a few days we finally convinced him to come.
Hopefully he'll show up tomorrow night to show us some of his "killer" techniques, (he was showing someone in class how to kill a man with a jab to the body, lol.) | | | | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 1970 Posts: 5,579
