heh...not to poop in your cereal but there's not many people here who are jkd fighters, much less people who would take interest enough to do this. and isn't the purpose of jkd not to concern ourselves over things like this? besides you forgot the other 1st gen students who stem thier 2nd/3rd generation students. :P

"isn't the purpose of jkd not to concern ourselves over things like this?"

Tell him brother!

It must be kind of embarressing for JKD students to say "yeah, I practice JKD" cos of all the "WAAATTTAAAAHHHH!!!"

....a bit like WC then I guess.

hmmm... i wouldn't even break it down to people... I'd break it down to schools/eras.

Seattle School
Oakland School
Chinatown School

The seattle school would be the earliest era of JKD, Oakland being the middle era and Chinatown being the last school in the progression before Lee's death. Innosanto would come from the Chinatown period since those are the times he trained with Lee. James Lee would be oakland and Taki Kimura up in seatle.

If you are looking for the latest progression of JKD before Lee's death you might want to start with guys from the Chinatown school; Innosanto, Ted Wong, Bill Bremer, Lary Hartsell and their students etc. Each era has something to offer and can give you insight on what Lee's progression was like as he grew older. Tim Tackett (one of my teachers when I was in high school and 2nd generation chinatown JKD student) wrote a really good article on this:

I read article and interview with Dan Inosanto in BI where he pointed diferents between JKD and JFGF and how his teaching is JFGF and not JKD. I think that article was published year to two ago.

The story as i heard it is that Lee had asked Inosanto not to teach JKD to the public. So what inosanto teaches publically is Jun Fan Gung Fu. However when the Chinatown "Backyard Group" was still together Innosanto would teach JKD to a small core group of students.
