Default Glove Weight?

Lately I've been training with 16 oz gloves. Is that standard? Too light for a beginner? Too heavy? The workout feels alright and I'm not feeling a lot of strain on my arms yet, but I'm not sure that what I'm training with is standard or what. Replies are appreciated. Thanks!

16s are fine if your sparring quite heavy. i use 16s too. Only problem is that i have to tighten up my defence a lot more when they aint on cause they're bloody huge.

true true, i often use 14 or 12.

Heavy gloves are better for sparring from experience.

I use 12 oz. and haven't found any problems with them...I'm poor so I don't have more than one pair
