Default Beyond The Glory - Mike Tyson

http://www.foxsports.com/content/view?contentId=865821

Check it out if you get a chance. I guess this is broken out into two episodes. I watched the first episode last night. It's very interesting. I can't say I agree with most of the things he's said or done, but in a way, I understand why he feels the way he does.

You won't be able to see it directly from the website. You need to see it on Fox Sports. It's a documentary about his life. His upbringing. His downfalls. I didn't realize but he had basically everyone important in his life die when he was still fairly young. He had his mother die and I believe he found her dead and ignored it (I missed most of that part). Cus became his legal guardian and was the only father figure in his life, because he never knew his father. Then Cus died and left him to be trained/raised by another trainer (who Tyson really respected and liked). Then that trainer died unexpectedly and I believe that's when Don King steps in. That's when this episode ends.

He also had one of his trainers put a gun to his head because Tyson disrespected this trainers younger sister (I think he grabbed her ass and she was 14).

There's a ton more to talk about it but it's just better to watch it if you can.

Actually, it was his 11 year old sister in law. When a man that knows you inside and out resorts to gun to the head that says something to me about character. Especially when mr. Tyson considered him to be extremely close.

This except is from the Tyson interview and is on the above listed link.

Former trainer Teddy Atlas after Tyson showed inappropriate behavior with Atlas' 11-year-old sister in-law, eventually causing Atlas to leave as Tyson's trainer: "I went and found him. And I put a gun to his head. And pulled the trigger back. And told him that he would never put his hands on anyone in my family, or do anything like that to anyone in my family again. Or he'd be dead."

Then he put the gun in his ear and pulled it away and fired it to let him know he was serious.

There's a part in the show that has Cus Damato saying that Tyson gave him a reason for living. He said that he wouldnt' leave until he knew Tyson had made something of himself.

I have the full documentary and downloaded it off a p2p network a while back, pretty interesting on tysons view on life and how he feels others feel about him as an individual.

A LOT of lessons for fighters or even normal people from listening to Tysons mistakes.

I reccomend trying to find a copy of this on the net or looking for the next time they show this, good documentary.

Tyson although he had incredibile ability and a rough road in life, was one of the biggest punks in the sport. When he faced someone who was not afraid of his bull charges, rants, and not intimidated by him, he did not know what to do. I think part of his downfall is that he got to the highest peek to soon, and then faded. Remember he captured the title at 21.

If you're talking about Holyfield, I don't really agree. He let his agression and anger go too far. In their first fight, Holyfield constantly head-butted him. Holyfield is infamous for head-butting. After the first fight, Tyson realized that. I don't approve of what Tyson did in the next fight (ear biting). He let his anger take control of him. I don't think he was looking for a way out because he didn't know what to do.
