Default Serkan Yilmaz

Anyone heard of this guy? Apparently he fights in K-1 and granted he's not the best out there, but a good example of how a taekwondo stylist can compete in kickboxing.

One of the most interesting things I immediatly noticed that made him so different than olympic calibur tkd players was his weight distribution.

His kicks went forward with his weight behind them rather than just fast and glancing.

I'm assuming that since he competes K-1 he trains full contact, great roll model for the TKD kids out there.

Great find on the vids Kyorgi.

They work with me (or, have done...really miss training) And, they're flipping good fun, especcially when you go for a tall guy.lol. Well, maybe the reaction you get from doing them sometimes is fun, like when you do the splits.

His kicking mechanics are quite clearly modified from the norm. He puts a lot more hip behind his kicks, so the technique is more reminiscent of a karate or thai kick (for the roundhouses, that is). On the whole, a very fast, precise and powerful striker with very good hand skills. I wonder how he'd do in the clinches, but at least from that clip, he seems to avoid them pretty well.
