There are electronic copies of all kinds of things on the net. I've found copies of A book of Five rings, Art of War, several old boxing manuals, old calvary sword manuals and the like. If you know what to search for you can find just about anything

I mean.. C'mon.. Before the printingpress.. Take sweden for example.. one of our kings only had five books... Four of which he had borrowed from a monastary and refused to give back..
