Default MMA Gameplan Question?

For any of you guys who compete MMA or grappling or anything for that matter. What process do you go through with your coach when developing a Gameplan for yourselves? Personally I like to do a SWOT analysis for myself and my opponent if their is available information and then go from there on working a fight training program. Any ideas or input would be appreciated as I'm trying to improve our game from both a coaches and competitors perspective.

What is SWOT? Never heard of it before.

For me when I have a competition coming up I train what I am good at to keep my bread and butter in top shape but moreso I focus on what I am crap at because I know my opponent is looking to exploit the holes in my game. For grappling I only have one point to my gameplan - Get on top, stay on top! If I find myself underneath, Get back on top! For grappling tournaments I cannot have a specific gameplan for 10 different guys but I do have mental files on guys who Ive met a few times. But TBH I focus more on affecting my own performance before theirs. What they do is largely irrelevent.

MMA is different though because you have only one fight and one opponent. Listen to your coach and do exactly what he says as a fighter. Have frank discussions with your coach where you explain where you feel good and where you feel bad then let him devise a training routine for you. Discuss your status before and after each session and include topics like nutrition, sleeping patterns and external worries etc.
