Default Using MT in a street fight?

Has anyone used Muay thai in a street fight?

What would be the "weapons" of choice? Low kicks to the knees? Get into the clinch right away and knee the crap out of them? Elbows? Mix it up with puches?

I would feel akward kicking fully clothed since I train bare feet and in shorts. My shoe would probably go flying off because I don't tie them tight.

I train MT in regular clothes. Yes, I have used it in a "street fight", and I didn't really have the chance to use anything but a thai kick. I'll put it this way; no one, without training, can take a full force thai kick and still stand strong.

I'm gonna have to agree with creative. MT can be very useful in the street. IF you are using it in the street stick to low kicks aimed at the knee or theigh. Also elbows are perhaps the most useful tool a street fighter has.

ALso training in MT will help because those who train and practice in this art are able to endure large amounts of punishment.

Probably the best street fighting aspect of MT is the clinch range. Its a safe bet that a street thug isn't going to know how to counter this.

And like Creative said, a full force round kick is pretty devastating if you aren't prepared for it. But a lot of times in a street fight you are so nervous that each leg feels like its 100 lbs.

Especially in the clinch, if you want to go for full body devastation, just throw a circular knee to the floating rib......*winces in pain*

amen to creative fighter. if you get a good round house kick in either to the knee or ribs they will think oh shit! whats next?

i once had an encounter with a small goup of mouth loute. te one that started it was te "im hard, I AM THE KING OF THE WORLD" type. so he got a hard forward thrust kick in the guts ( i put plenty of ip into it). he doubled over and looked up and BANG!!!! MT round house kick to the head. was knocked out before he hit the floor. his mates shit it as he would'nt get up. i said to scare them more " his necks broke" and walked off. it wasn;t i saw him a week later. and get this he said he was sorry!!! goes to show doesnt it.

A solid MT kick to the side of the knee will take a person's balance long enough to crack him a good fist to the face - this works especially well with people who keep backing off and try to place a distance game. Attack their legs if you want an immobile target.

Clinching is key. Most people get grabby on the street but have never seen a MT clinch - show it to them the hard way.

In street fights majority of these so called streetfighters can't fight nor they can defend themselves in a real situation and taking out the legs or what you call the low area is a good strategy and I'd just say stick to mid and low because chances of doing a high kick is risky.

thai kicks are awesome but i dunno if id have the confidence to use them in a fight right now. im just trying to get use to them as compared to the old snapping kicks of tmas. it just feels so stiff...
