Default bouncing back from injury

-I recently strained my Left calf tendon while performing a roundhouse.
I've been back to class, but as far as performing any rotating kicks I'm going to wait awhile...
I still feel the 'twinge' in the back, meaty part of the knee.
Doing a front-snap kick is not a concern and putting weight on the left leg is not bad either.
, so in class I'm working the heavy bag with punches-no kicks.

-Has anyone ever come across this injury or something like it,
and how long did it take to bounce back?
(I should say that I have had ACL re-construction on both legs too many yrs. ago)

--Cheers.

lol... hopefully nobody does . well... i havne't gotten that injury, but i have a bone bruise on my right ankle right now. so then i can't say how long it'll take for you to bounce back, but i know that it will truly depend on how easy you go on it, and how you take care of it. i'm pretty sure you know most of the stuff to helping it heal, so i won't go into that, but i'll just remind you to do it... "DO IT".

It always sucks getting injured. My advice would be, that is if it is your knee area that you hurt, to give it some time to heal. I injured my knee when I was younger and never really did anything about it now every once in awhile it will hurt me if I'm working out or doing impact sparring.

-Your right there 'asag', the knee area takes time to heal.
At my next class, I'll be doing about the same,
primarily working my punching skills and limited kicks.
My instructor is totally cool about it.

-I find the worst part of an injury or sickness is the time-off from training.
I enjoy MT so much and when I can't do it- it just blows!

Cheers

i was doing a front flip on these thick soft mats, and they were so high up that i had to land crouched. and my heel went deep into the mats, but my toes part of my foot stayed up on top... so it brought my toes too far up, like they were trying to my shin,a nd i heard a loud pop, and i BELIEVE it's a bone bruise.

oh and maybe get a brace for it.

confusingdot - I have exactly the same thing on both ankles! I heard a big pop when I landed hard from doing a somersault. I stretched the achiles and ankle ligements in the same way u mention. I did the otherone when sparing and got taken down hard. its been a year now and has changed the way I fight totally.

Kranker66

your right the worst part about an injury is not being able to train. It really throws off your rhythym and makes you feel like your not getting anything done. I remember another time I got shin splints from a combination of running and jumping rope. it sucked because my workouts weren't good while I had them and it was hard to train because whenever I put pressure on them it killed.

-The dreaded 'pop' sound is horrible-no matter where on the body.
I felt the 'pop' when I got injured, but luckily there was 'no water on the knee'.

'asag2'
-Myself, I have never had shin splints (-<knock on wood>-)...
...what exactly is it, a deep tissue bruise or something? Sounds bad?

-...so far my calf tendon is getting better,
and I'll be seeing the doc on Tuesday.

Cheers to all
