No, in my opinion, there's no evidence that
categorically disproves either issue. There is a lot of evidence, however, that suggests that these are myths and have no grounding in fact, but, perhaps more importantly, there is a rather startling lack of evidence
for either of them, e.g. no mention in historical records of the existence of any Shaolin temple outside of Henan.
Given the weight of evidence against and the lack of evidence for, I draw my oft-posted conclusions. How others take it is, of course, up to them.
BTW, is it me or the thread that's the "foul beast"?
