Hmmm...let's take a look at what's happening here. Okay...so until now, this board has been quiet. There's been some really interesting, long, and informational discussions in the past, but they've been sporadic. We'll call it one every month. A little while ago, a post unfortunately drew a LOT of attention to a place where it didn't need to be on this board - as a result, this board got a whooole lot of hits in a very short amount of time. A few interesting people seemed to stick around.
There's a guy who came here, interested about fighting in general and RMAX as a whole. He didn't believe the stuff.
There's a few RMAX people who miraculously took the cue, showed up, saw the first guy's questions, and had some good answers along with some promo stuff for their art. Hell, fair enough, it gets people interested, right?
The answers which our new guests gave were so good, it seems, that the first guy's mind was completely changed. Wow. That's really impressive! The "answers" haven't stopped yet, however. There's a new announcement every few days, a new promo video put up, a new 2 page explanation to a question nobody asked. Interestingly enough, it's always the same group of people posting, and then the same group of people going gaga over it! No discussion, no real explanation for the people who don't understand, just bam! A new video clip.
The mistake that's been made is simple...there are now people here marketing their stuff without giving much of a shit about whether or not any martially valuable discussion comes out of it. This hurts the board. No one who has showed up in the last month has contributed ANYTHING besides promotional material. Well, besides Jimmy Lee, who seems to ask some great questions which lead into great promotional material in a great way. It's really satisfying to see someone being "enlightened."
That being said, I'm asking Jimmy Lee and the Coach who's been posting here to DISCUSS some stuff with us! Stop just making threads to post someone else's material! Shit, if you have video of yourself, put it up and link to it, that's cool and fun to discuss...but what you're doing now is annoying and disrespectful.
I'm no special authority. I can't kick you off this board, and I'd see no reason to even if I could. I'm not even angry. I just want to let you know that you're playing into a lot of people's idea of why large martial arts organizations are faulty and don't actually promote martial and nonmartial understanding of how and why things work and how to recreate them. Stop playing the good cop/bad cop game with promo material, and JOIN us here.
I know the people discussed here will probably post and try to flame me and deny that this is going on, and that it's absolutely wrong and rude of me to post this, but that's to be expected. Maybe this little paragraph will make them think twice about it, maybe not. I don't really care. Either way, I've said what I think needs to be said.
Let's get back to discussing martial stuff.
