Wrist Locks in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Wrist Locks in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

My BJJ instructor Luigi Mondelli has become quite the pain in the ass when it comes to wrist locks, (sorry Luigi!!).

I recently had a private lesson with him while we rolled for a good 30-40 minutes. I am sometimes still “in aww” or “star-struck” when I roll with him and don’t necessarily fight to the best of my ability, but I am starting to get over it.

Well, last time we rolled, he went to town on me using wrist locks. It was almost like I was a brand new white belt getting tapped out at EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE position. It was quite annoying and quite humbling at the same time.

I always leave training with Luigi full of hope and full of humility. I am like a kid in a candy store when I see how much is out there to “eat” – yet realize that it will take me years and years and years to eat all of it. But that’s part of the journey.

I happened to stumble across this book by Roy Dean: Aikido | Brazilian Jiu Jitsu | Art of the Wristlock It seems interesting enough and I like the Aikido or Aikijutsu approach to it. It’s like merging everything I “know” and work on together.

Anyone out there have any experience with Roy Dean’s DVDs?
